LaundryCar - Mobile laundromat for a clean gateway

Have you ever robbed a bank and needed to make a "clean" gateway, well the "laundromatic 2000" will allow you to do just that. This is the LaundryCar created by Smitty Regula over in Houston Texas. Its totally covered in washing detergent containers, clean laundry and a washing machine up on the roof. I do hope you don't need quarters for that, but what a great idea, a mobile laundromat. Drive over to someones house, do their laundry, put it up on the line, go around the block a few times to air dry and presto, clean clothes.

Life has always been interesting but never quite the same ever since he started working on his Mercedes Pens Art Car now covered in 10,000 pens that was inspired from reading a book called "Art Cars" by author Harrod Blank. Now that the car is pretty much done he has set his sights higher and want to collect a million pens in the next five years to make more pen art.

I cant believe I have not posted the famous Lego Jeep Art Car on ACC. Here in all its glory entertaining kids of every age, who are all over it having fun. Legos are for everyone and Kevin Mathieu creator of the Jeep Lego Car has apparently not left his inner child behind. How awesome it is to be able to just pull over any time and play with your legos. Those famous Bay Area traffic jams seem less insane now that the lego car is on the road headed to this years Maker Faire.

Wow, this Flower Art Car definitely takes best of flower show, a Ford Torus that was for sale last August in North Hollywood. It has a running waterfall, real live grass, plants, flowers, tiki torches, and a interior fish tank. Apparently its a great rental for the movie industry, business promotions, and parties and has received some media attention in the local news. When buying an art car its always good to have had media attention and have built a good reputation around town. The more famous the car the more you can expect to pay.

Go on Long Road Trips with the Toilette Paper Van

This fabulous TP covered van was seen and not heard at this years Houston Art Car Parade. I think this is the ultimate solution for those long road trips with a van load of kids on the way to Disney land or some camping trip. Its strictly a summer road trip vehicle or else it would just look really tacky if it got rained on. I am also glad that the TP is set up flap facing forward and that the van has an additional 4ply bumper cushion for ultimate safety and comfort.

Candle Art Car - Tom Kennedy's Memorial Art Car Parade

Last Friday was Tom Kennedy's Memorial who tragically died in a surfing accident of the California coast in San Francisco. As I was looking through some of the pictures from that event I came across this wonderful candle art car by Tré Taylor who is seen here driving the car. The nice thing about this beauty is that it always has a fresh coat of wax and a squirrel hood ornament standing guard at all times.

1-year-old girl gets her very own toy pen art car.

My smallest daughter has always been fascinated by my Mercedes Pens Art Car covered in 10,000 pens. And every time she sees it she wants to go over, sit on the car and play with the pens. So I decided for her first birthday that she needed her own pen car so I "penned her ride" as well with crayola caps and other colorful felt tips. I even tried to spell out her name on the front. She loves her Toy Pen Art Car and now that its raining we brought in the house and she sits in it while watching her favorite DVDs, with her feet up on the dashboard. The only problem is that she managed to take off all the pens on the other side. No worries, daddy will fix it.

Ron Paul Art Car - What to do with a car covered in bumber stickers?

This is a 92 F150, currently residing in Lebanon, PA with nearly a
quarter million miles that I picked up from my mechanic for $1200 a
couple of years ago - not as a project vehicle of any sort, but
because it was all I could afford at the time. Unfortunately, this
also wasn't an original idea of mine - I saw a car that was done up
just the same on The Daily Paul - the foremost blog in Ron Paul info
during the campaign. That particular individual made it on their local
news, I know many other people decorated their vehicles with Ron Paul
slogans as well, but I figure there's probably only 2 or 3 others that
did the complete sticker job.

Unfortunately, this truck has also been out of commission since July
due to expired registration and inspection, so I really couldn't tell
you what kind of reactions there have been lately, as there've been
none. Hopefully your readers can help answer the question as to what
to do with it now (finish it, redo it, etc).

Hot Glow in the Dark MINI Art Car

I found this hot Mini Cooper with an all reflective, vinyl sticker kit and a video on how it was all put together at Garage 419. This glow in the dark mini art car was created by Scott Chester at ACID STUDIOS and the result is simply stunning. The project was inspired by the BMW Art Car project between 1975 & 1999, where artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg (R.I.P.) made one of a kind works of art from BMWs’ finest automobiles.

Hunting wall street pirates with fire breathing mutant vehicle

Yep its Mutant Mondays and today's mutant vehicle is a two story pickup truck covered in neck ties and a fire cannon mounted on the back. I also love the attention to detail with the pink gas tank up top of the observation deck. Maybe the guy has given up his corporate job to pursue a career in pyrotechnics and is raising money for classes by selling his old neck ties. Or maybe its a corporate exec hunting party on the look out for rogue wall street pirates. One can only guess.

Mercedes with Ultra Bling Factor- Car Covered in Crystal

I am expanding the types of cars I feature on art car central, frankly because I need more to do even though there are a ton of art cars out yet to be discovered. This Mercedes was made by D.A.D and on their web site they sell all kinds of accessories covered in crystal and a bunch of it. This car is what I call Ultra Bling and will be a regular part of this blog. Sorry I couldn't help my self.

Turkey Toyota by Ramona Moon - Happiest art car on earth:)

Christine Hayes or Ramona Moon is the creator of Turkey Toyota a 1967 Corona Toyota that has been around for a very long time. After some major front end work she managed to finally get her art car moved from California to Columbus. It was also featured in Harrod Blanks book Wild Wheels, and that was back in 1993, so to see this car still running is amazing. It is completely covered in plastic toys and it seems every thing that could possibly make a kid smile. She is also a Columnist for the Short North Gazette and written about her art car story and more.

Toy Art Car - By Talented Kindergartners

This Toy Art Car is brought to you by a group of Kindergartners who produced an amazing body of art work for their district art show. They took a plastic toy car and covered it with, more toys using silicone caulk by the looks of it. There are many more works like an Art Guitar and an Art Arrow. Great job, I cant wait to see what they do when they get their driving licences in a few years.

Disco Vespa - Chabling (I made that word up)

This Vespa is what I call "Chabling" a made up word for the coolest disco Vespa ever on the planet. At a moments notice you could hang that sucker from a ceiling and BAM!!!!, instant disco, rave, all nighter with the glow sticks and fur clothing. Bottle Cap Art Car

Stephanie made her 1993 Honda Accord into an art car - covering it with bottle caps we collected over the winter. A couple years ago, we went to Louisville, Kentucky for their annual Art Car Weekend, and had a blast. We were lucky enough to get much of the car finished to attend the Art Car Show this year.

We're replacing the Honda, which is her currently daily driver, with a new little VW Rabbit, which just arrived. The Honda is in pretty good shape, but just turned 200,000 miles and essentially has no trade-in value.

So there was no reason not to hold on to it and have some fun. Stephanie toyed with several different design ideas, but finally arrived at an intersection of the art car she's always wanted, and her childhood love of bottle caps. Her dad even dug her original collection out of the garage attic and brought them to us.

We collected and sorted bottle caps all winter long, with the help of friends and the nice folks at the restaurant Ralph's Great Divide.

We finished the project up on November 1st, so that we could turn the car over to her niece. We finished up the whole car except for the roof, and Raven will be working on that.

The project was lots of fun and really entertaining, and we're already planning to do another one.

PezCar Art Car Project - How Sweet the Ride

The PezCar Art Car Project begun with a dedicated PezHead named Cliff Lee back in 1997, who was also featured in Harrod Blank's Art Cars book. He bought a 1977 Dodge Apsen for $500 with the words "Runs Good" on the windshield and thus begun his journey into pezmania. Today, Gary Plunkett has taken on the responsibility of restoring this art car, making sure many more will be able to enjoy it for years to come. This art car has also been used in many charity events so be sure to go to their web site and support this worthy cause.
